Nurturing Liberia’s Future through Quality Education

Education First Academy (EFA), located in the coastal city of Harper, Liberia, is a private, non-sectarian, coeducational day school serving approximately 400 students. The academy offers programs spanning early childhood, elementary, and junior high school (grades 7–9), with plans underway to introduce a senior high school in the near future.

EFA is committed to fostering academic excellence and holistic development in its students. The school’s curriculum and teaching practices are grounded in Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory of cognitive development, which emphasizes the significant role that culture, social interaction, and community play in a child's learning process. EFA believes that education is not just about academic instruction but also about building on students' prior knowledge, experiences, and cultural background.

The academy follows an adapted version of the National Curriculum prescribed by the Liberia Ministry of Education, ensuring that students meet national standards while benefiting from innovative, student-centered teaching approaches. Through this blend of academic rigor and cultural relevance, Education First Academy strives to develop well-rounded, socially responsible, and confident young individuals prepared to contribute positively to their communities and beyond.
