Elementary School (Grade 1 - 6)

In our elementary school program, students learn the fundamentals of reading, writing, spelling, science, mathematics, social studies, personal health, and English through a logical progressive sequence prescribed by the Ministry of Education. The core curriculum is currently supplemented with "enrichment" classes including digital literacy, art and craft, and personal hygiene.

Digital Literacy Program

In today’s digital world, nearly every career requires digital communication, so equipping students with the skills to effectively and responsibly find, evaluate, communicate, and share online content is key to their futures.

While our digital program is in its infancy, our goal is to focus on the following topics: computational thinking, coding, virtual robotics, word processing, keyboarding/typing, spreadsheets, and database, Internet usage and communications, and cyber safety.

Arts and Craft Program

Art and craft activities give kids a sense of achievement and allow them to take pride in their work which build confidence. Making art is a great, safe way to discover that it’s okay to make mistakes and that getting things ‘wrong’ can lead you to a whole new idea. Kids get to try new things and also develop their “self-regulation skills” (e.g. when waiting for paint or glue to dry). This helps them develop patience, which all kids need help with!

The four key areas of the Arts and Craft Program

Making - Children learn to use a range of tools and techniques to create artwork. They're given the opportunity to showcase their skills and use their imagination to create incredible pieces.

Reflecting - This strand is all about getting children to analyze and critique their work, as well as the work of others. In the earlier stages, this involves encouraging children to give opinions on the colors and patterns used in a piece of art.

Experiencing - Experiencing is a fun part of the artistic process, where children come up with ideas for their artwork and experiment to find what they like and don’t like.

Thinking and working artistically - This is something that children develop as they grow as artists, learning to embrace opportunities and overcome challenges. Individual projects are a great way for children to learn to be independent and trust their instincts, both crucial skills for this strand.
