EDUCATION FIRST, Inc.

Education First Academy (EFA), located in Harper, Liberia, is a private, non-sectarian, coeducational day school with approximately 400 students. The school comprise of an early childhood center, an elementary school, and a junior high school (grade 7-9) with plans to add a senior high school.

Curriculum

Our curriculum and instructional practices are guided by Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory of cognitive development. This theory asserts that teachers, parents, and peers make an impact on an individual’s learning, but so do culture and beliefs. Social interaction, then, is key to learning and proper development. We believe that a child’s previous knowledge, experiences, beliefs, and insights are all important foundations for their continued learning and development.

The curriculum at Education First Academy is an adaptation of the National Curriculum prescribed by Liberia Ministry of Education.
